Summary
Amy Clipston’s Naomi’s Gift is the story of a spirited young Naomi King, an Amish woman who has been jilted in love a few times. Having had a few bachelors, neighbors begin to whisper that she is shameless. Everything changes when she meets widower Caleb Schmucker who lost his wife two years prior and lives with his endearing daughter Susie. Susie immediately takes a liking to Naomi and, in time, Caleb does as well.
At first it was a little on the slow side but the more Naomi and Caleb would run into each other, it was obvious that the chemistry was palpable. Ms. Clipston does a phenomenal job in fleshing out her characters and truly brings Naomi and her Amish world to life. While I wouldn’t say there are twists and turns in this book, it went along at a good pace. This work of fiction has a nice plot and there were times where I felt that Naomi resembled a Cinderella-esque figure. All the while I felt compelled to root for her despite the obstacles that she had faced. Through it all, however, Naomi relied on God and demonstrated her great faith. This was a fantastic and fun book to check out in time for Christmas.
If you are a fan of Beverly Lewis or Wanda Brunsetter, you will love this charming Christmastime romance.
